There will always be someone better than you. Let that inspire you!

For #motivationmondays let me tell you a story from my past.

I was speaking with a seasoned gentleman – a corporate executive who had a background in management consulting, similar to my background.

As I was asking about the biggest challenges that he had been facing, he gave me an example use case of something he had to solve for in the past.

But the way he asked it was in a way that he was asking me what I would have done if I were faced with the same situation.

To cut the story short, I was not able to answer it to his satisfaction, as I failed to zoom-out further and look at things from a Bird’s-eye View.

He eventually shared with me what he had done to solve that problem.

It was an eye-opening experience for me.

Now I could have been frustrated at myself, which I did for a moment, but then I let that failure inspire me to be better.

What’s important is having a winning mindset, regardless of what happens.

Because it’s either I really win, or I learn something new.

I suggest you adapt the same mindset. Because whatever you do, always remember, there will always, always, be someone better than you.

Or maybe even doing exactly the same thing you’re doing but with way less effort.

Rather than let regret, hatred, jealousy consume you, why don’t you learn from it?

Or better yet, ask that someone to mentor you.

Because finding the right mentor to learn from will always be one of the best things that will help shorten your learning curve to success.
