For today’s #FutureFridays topic, we talk about the Future of Learning – The Flipped Classroom.
Traditional Classroom
Have you ever been bored sitting in a classroom?
Then all the instructor does is blabber on about the theoretical stuff, and then you thought that it’s probably been the same material being used over and over again across different classes?
Have you ever found it challenging that when you get off class and do homework, you have to do it all alone by yourself, with no one to guide you?
Is there a better way?
Now, have you ever wondered if there’s a better way to learn where it won’t have to be so boring?
And that when you go and do homework, did you ever wish you could just solve for the homework with the rest of the class, guided by the instructor, instead of having to do it all by yourself?
If you answered yes to the above questions, then a Flipped Classroom setting is the right kind of learning style for you.
The Flipped Classroom
In this video, Flipped Learning pioneer John Bergman explains exactly how it works.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Flipped Classroom?
Now what if I told you that people have been taking interest in me hosting a Flipped Classroom setup for Go Lean Six Sigma’s Green Belt Training and Certification course?
People find it advantageous because of the following reasons:
- It gives learners the ability to take the course modules Online, Self-Paced, at any time of the day, with the capability to rewind, replay, and ensure understanding
- The comfort of having a support system – access to the instructor as well as to peers for questions, and more importantly, with scheduled touchpoints to ensure the group goes at the same pace
- Last but not least, learners have the best chance at achieving Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification after completing the training
Now I’ve been really busy, but I think I can carve out some time to actually facilitate this, probably in the next few weeks.
The Green Belt Flipped Classroom Facilitation consists of 5 sessions at 1.5 hours each.
The timing/length between each session can vary. I work with clients to identify the best schedule to align with their goals, such as the scope of the projects involved.
For example, the Green Belt Flipped Classroom Facilitation can take 5 weeks to complete if we allow learners 1 week to complete each phase of DMAIC.
If we allow learners 2 weeks to complete each phase of DMAIC, then the timeline could be as long as 10 weeks.
This is where I need your help. If you were to participate in the Flipped Classroom setup for Go Lean Six Sigma’s Green Belt Training and Certification course, what’s your preferred duration between DMAIC phases/touchpoints?
- 1 week?
- 2 weeks?
- Others (suggest how long)
