Knowing and Not Doing is the same as Not Knowing

Today’s #motivationmondays is all about taking action.

You know how some people keep bringing new ideas to the table about how we should be doing things?

And then if you ask them to help implement it, they’ll go run the other direction?

“Knowing and not doing is the same as not knowing.” – Robin Sharma

It doesn’t matter how smart you are, how much you read, or how much you know.

If you don’t put it into practice, it will all remain to be just knowledge.

Because no matter how slow you progress, you’ll still be way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.

Ever heard about the Ebbinghaus Curve or the Forgetfulness Curve?

Turn Your Car into a 600hp Electric Vehicle in 2020

For today’s #futurefridays, the car enthusiast in me has its juices flowing.

With all they hype about the new Cybertruck, people either love it or hate it. And the hate is mostly about the design.

So what if you can pick any car you want, based on how you like the design, and then just make it go electric. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

That’s exactly what the wizards at Stard Advanced Research and Development in Austria have done.

And it’s going to go full swing in 2020 racing at the World Rallycross Championship.

Imagine having the power to go 0-60 in 1.8 seconds. That’s faster than an F1 car!

The kit that they’ve developed has an all-wheel-drive drivetrain powered by 3 electric motors – 1 in front and 3 at the back, giving the car a total of 600hp, and a staggering 1100N-m of torque instantly available within 1 millisecond.

Even private teams can build their own electric rallycross cars based on the kit technology and the technical systems provided by Stard for a full and practical integration into these cars.

Check out the video. If you’re a true car guy, it’s going to be one of the best 4 minutes and 17 seconds of your life. You’ll thank me later.

4 Types of People and How to Influence Them

For today’s #thankfulthursdays I would like to give gratitude to Sifu Dan Lok for teaching me this.

You know how they make you take those personality tests like DISC?

And then once you determine your personality type and that of your colleagues and team members, supposedly it will allow you to be able to work together better, since you already know the personality of each.

The problem there is that if you’re speaking with a client, or a visitor, or doing an interview with a potential hire, it’s very difficult to gauge their personality without having to have them take the DISC test.

So when it comes to figuring out how to best persuade potential clients, influence stakeholders, motivate your team, or gauge the personality and team fit of a potential new hire, there has to be a better way of gauging their personality quickly, so you can adjust your approach accordingly.

What Dan Lok has taught me is that there are 4 Personality Types, which can be described as gems – Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Pearl. He dives deep into each type, and explains what motivates them.

That way, you’ll be able to quickly gauge the personality of the person you’re speaking with, while you are having a conversation with them.

Here’s how.

People always say “Follow Your Dreams,” but they never tell you How. Well here’s How.

For today’s #wisdomwednesdays I would like to give a shout out to Hernie Rante from our membership group – The Business Optimization Experts for sharing his key learnings from this video.

It’s really about how to stop consuming and instead, start creating.

It’s talks about “how.” Because people always tell you to “Follow Your Dreams,” as if it’s so easy, but they never really tell you “how.”

Well, here’s an example of how, from Carlo Ople from a recent TedX event.

Enjoy!

How Artificial Intelligence allows the Blind to “See”

Last Friday we talked about some Artificial Intelligence Basics, specifically Computer Vision.

So for today’s #transformationtuesdays I’ll share with you a specific use case where Computer Vision is being used, together with Natural Language Processing to describe to a blind person what is in their surroundings.

It can read text, answer certain questions, and even identify sentiment and emotion on the faces of the people in front of them.

If you haven’t seen this yet, then now is the time to check it out.

If not, you’re missing half of your life.

Do More than what you are Paid For until you are Paid For More than what you Do

For today’s #motivationmondays we’ll be going a little deep.

Do you know people who would scoff at Napoleon Hill’s words of wisdom?

“The man who does more than he is paid for will soon be paid for more than he does.” – Napoleon Hill

I know of some people who would.

But let’s walk through the 2 types of people that fit under these circumstances, and how they typically behave:

  • Type A: Those who just do as they are told and according to their pay grade
  • Type B: those who exert effort that is above and beyond their pay grade

Read on to find out what the possibilities are by walking through both scenarios.

Artificial Intelligence Basics: What is Computer Vision?

It’s #futurefridays and today we’ll be talking about the basics of Artificial Intelligence.

If this catches on, I might even turn this into a series!

For this first installment, I’ll be talking about Computer Vision.

Wikipedia defines Computer Vision as:

Computer vision is an interdisciplinary scientific field that deals with how computers can be made to gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos. From the perspective of engineering, it seeks to automate tasks that the human visual system can do.

Let me show you some examples of how Computer Vision is being used in real-world scenarios.

Copy me so I don’t have to do it anymore. The Leadership Mindset for People Development.

It’s #thankfulthursdays and for today I’d like to give gratitude to Seth Godin for teaching me this.

“Copy me so I don’t have to do it anymore.” – Seth Godin

What he meant by this isn’t copy-pasting or plagiarizing content.

It’s more of let’s say you started doing things the way I do it, you adapt my best practices, make them your own, it means I have made my mark in the world and I can move on and innovate further and create new things that will be of value to the world!

If you’re a leader then I’m sure this would make sense to you. Transferring knowledge, skillsets, and developing people is what we live for.

And because I’m grateful to you for reading this, I would like to make your day by giving you some value.

Here are some options of how you can copy and acquire some of my very own skillsets.

3 Tips How to Solve for Problems Before they even Happen

For #wisdomwendesdays I’m sharing some quick tips that will be helpful, especially for process improvement professionals growing a team or have frequent organizational changes.

You know when you’ve been working with a client for at least year or two, and then there are so many changes in their organization happening, perhaps due to growth, movement, or restructuring?

While your clients may say that it’s for the better, or that it’s good to have a fresh set of eyes, even though I agree to that, it does present itself with a challenge.

The challenge with having new people in the organization is that the

History usually repeats itself. So find pain points based on history.

Read on as I share 3 quick tips to allow you to work with new team members and alleviate this challenge.
